Almighty Spirit, very God of God;

Triune with the Father and the Son.

In the beginning, o’er the seas You trod,

And the starry host Your power spun.

 

Almighty Spirit, clothed with humble might;

Without loss, You glorify the Head.

Making the fame of Christ Your great delight,

Given to the church in Jesus’ stead.

 

Almighty Spirit, herald of the Word,

You convict of sin and righteousness.

Day after day, You point the sinner toward

The atoning blood the Savior shed.

 

Almighty Spirit, giver of new birth,

By Your mercy, Christ’s elect are turned.

Just as the wind, unseen as you convert

By the washing water of Your Word.

 

Almighty Spirit, seal of God’s belov’d,

By Your will, You gift the saints with grace.

Working within to make them beauteous,

And conform them to the mind of Christ.
