How Long, Lord?

Words: Jesse Rey Quesada. Music: Bryan Jeffrey Lee.

Why, O Lord, do You hide Your face?

Do not turn away in Your anger.

Does Your ear hear my wounded cry?

Will Your wrath abide on this debtor?

You have been my help in my wandering,

And You’ve borne me up on the eagle’s wing.

Turn again to Your servant, Lord,

And remove Your sword of affliction.

How long, Lord, must this trial remain?

See my feeble frame, bowed in suffering.

Lord, draw near and redeem my soul;

Heal and overthrow my infirmity.

I have trust in Your faithful promises,

How Your grace abounds in my weaknesses.

Lift my soul, by Your quick’ning hand,

Cause my feet to stand in Your presence.

Come now, soul, put your hope in God;

Bless the Father’s rod as He chastens you.

Though He wounds, He has pow’r to heal,

And will soon reveal all the Spirit’s fruit.

Those He loves, He prunes, for their holiness,

To depend on Christ midst our deep distress.

Sing then, soul, let your praises soar,

And rejoice in your sure salvation!
